229 - Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم

229 - حدثنا هشام بن عمار، حدثنا حفص بن سليمان، حدثنا كثير بن شنظير، عن محمد بن سيرين، عن أنس بن مالك، قال قال رسول الله ﷺ " طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم وواضع العلم عند غير أهله كمقلد الخنازير الجوهر واللؤلؤ والذهب ".

الشرح

( واضع العلم عند غير أهله ) : بأن يحدثه من لا يفهمه ، أو من يريد منه غرضا دنيويا ، أو من لا يتعلمه لله ( كمقلد الخنازير الجوهر واللؤلؤ ) : بسكون الهمزة ويبدل ( والذهب ) : قيل : يشعر بأن كل علم يختص باستعداد وله أهل ، فإذا وضعه في غير موضعه فقد ظلم ، فمثل معنى الظلم بتقليد أخس الحيوانات بأنفس الجواهر

229 - Hisham bin Ammar told us, Hafs bin Sulayman told us, Katheer bin Shanazir told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Sirin, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim, and one who leaves knowledge to those who are not worthy of it is like one who imitates pig by Jewels, pearls, and gold

The explanation

(He who leaves knowledge to those who are not worthy of it): By teaching it to someone who does not understand it, or someone who wants a worldly purpose from it, or someone who does not learn it for the sake of Allah (Like one who imitates pearls and jewels to pigs) (and gold): It was said: It indicates that every knowledge is specific to a specific disposition and has people, so, if he places it in the wrong place then he has committed an injustice. So, the meaning of injustice is like imitating the most base of animals with the most precious jewels.
