688 حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن سماك بن حرب عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا تصوموا قبل رمضان صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته فإن حالت دونه غياية فأكملوا ثلاثين يوما وفي الباب عن أبي هريرة وأبي بكرة وابن عمر قال أبو عيسى حديث ابن عباس حديث حسن صحيح وقد روي عنه من غير وجه

688 Qutaybah narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, on the authority of Samak ibn Harb, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If something obstructs you, then complete thirty days.
