2742 - O Messenger of God, you said, “May God bless you” to this one but you did not say, “May God bless you” to me يا رسول الله شمت هذا ولم تشمتني

[ 2742] حدثنا بن أبي عمر حدثنا سفيان عن سليمان التيمي عن أنس بن مالك أن رجلين عطسا عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فشمت أحدهما ولم يشمت الآخر فقال الذي لم يشمته يا رسول الله شمت هذا ولم تشمتني فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إنه حمد الله وإنك لم تحمد الله قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح وقد روي عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

[2742] Ibn Abi Omar told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of Sulayman al-Taymi, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik, that two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said, “May God bless you” to one of them but not to the other, the one who did not say, “May God bless you” to him, said, “O Messenger of God, you said, “May God bless you” to this one but you did not say, “May God bless you” to me. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “He praised God and you did not praise God.” Abu Isa said, “This is a good and authentic hadith. It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.”
