3295 - When the table is laid, no man should stand up

3295 - Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-Asqalani narrated: Ubaydullah narrated: Abd al-A’la informed us, on the authority of Yahya ibn Abi Katheer, on the authority of Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, on the authority of Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “When the table is laid, no man should stand up until the table is removed, and he should not raise his hand, even if he is full, until the people has finished eating, and let him excuse himself, for a man may embarrass his companion, so he may withhold his hand, and perhaps he has a need for food.”
