3498 - he Messenger of God PBUH said: “Tomorrow I will give the banner to a man through whose hands God will grant victory

3498 Qutaybah bin Saeed narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Hazim, on the authority of Sahl bin Saad, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Tomorrow I will give the banner to a man through whose hands God will grant victory.” So the people spent the night groaning, Which of them will be given it? When morning came, the people rushed to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, all of them hoping to be given it. He said, “Where is Ali ibn Abi Talib?” They said, “He is complaining of his eyes, O Messenger of God.” He said, “Send for him and bring him to me.” When he came, he spat in his eyes and prayed for him, and he was healed, as if he had never been afflicted. Then he gave him the banner. Ali said, “O Messenger of God, I will fight them until they are like us. He said, “Proceed at your leisure until you reach their courtyard, then call them to Islam and inform them of what is required of them from the right of God in it. By God, if God guides one man through you, that is better for you than having red camels.”
