Allah says
إِن تُبْدُوا الصَّدَقَاتِ فَنِعِمَّا هِيَ ۖ وَإِن تُخْفُوهَا وَتُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرَاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۚ وَيُكَفِّرُ عَنكُم مِّن سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ (271)
If you give alms in abundance, they will be good, but if you conceal it and give it to the poor, that is better for you, and He will atone for you some of your evil deeds. And God is Expert of what you do. (271)
1- The Lord of the Worlds gives you a choice regarding the charity that you give from your wealth: either you hide it and you get the reward of expiating sins, or you make it public, and it is sufficient as a blessing.
2 - The secret charity is better and dearer to God - the Almighty - than public charity because it is far removed from hypocrisy and it expiates hidden sins: which no one is see it except God - the Almighty - but public charity is also required in order to motivate the miserly person and the owner of money who does not know how to dispose of the rest of his money after his needs.
3 - And you are aware that the effort of the little ones: that is, the charity that comes from a poor person or one in need of this money is in the eyes of God much greater than its real number, as it is said that a one dirham preceded 1000 dirhams.
4 - In all circumstances, always remember: God is aware of your intention as you give out money (hypocrisy - in order for people to hear, for the sake of God alone). He is Expert of the source of your secrets (the breast).
