2807 - The meaning of this hadith according to the people of knowledge is that they disliked wearing saffron-coloured clothing عند أهل العلم أنهم كرهوا لبس المعصفر

[ 2807] حدثنا عباس بن محمد البغدادي حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور أخبرنا إسرائيل عن بن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال مر رجل وعليه ثوبان أحمران فسلم على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فلم يرد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عليه قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن غريب من هذا الوجه ومعنى هذا الحديث عند أهل العلم أنهم كرهوا لبس المعصفر ورأوا أن ما صبغ بالحمرة بالمدر أو غير ذلك فلا بأس به إذا لم يكن معصفرا

[2807] Abbas bin Muhammad al-Baghdadi told us, Ishaq bin Mansur told us, Israel told us, on the authority of Ibn Abi Nujayh, on the authority of Mujahid, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, who said: A man passed by wearing two red garments and greeted the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, did not respond to him. Abu Isa said: This is a good and strange hadith from this aspect. The meaning of this hadith according to the people of knowledge is that they disliked wearing saffron-coloured clothing and they saw that what was dyed red with mud or something else was fine if it was not saffron-coloured.
