God will not combine two deaths upon you, but as for the death that was written for you, you have died, then he went out to the people, and he found Omar in his excitement talking to the people, and the people gathered around him, wishing that his words were true, With a sword in his hand, he threatens anyone who says that Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, is dead and swears an oath. Abu Bakr said to him: O you who swear, slow down, Then he said: As for what follows, whoever worships Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, then Muhammad has died, and whoever worships God, then God is alive and does not die, Then he recited the words of God Almighty:
وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ وَمَنْ يَنْقَلِبْ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَنْ يَضُرَّ اللهَ شَيْئًا وَسَيَجْزِي اللهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ} [آل عمران: 144]
