Al Malahem: plural of epic, and epic is the great battle site, it was named thus because of the large amount of flesh of the dead in it.
Between Muslims and among these epic battles at the end of time? The epic battles that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told about at the end of time are between Muslims and two specific, defined groups of people on earth, which are the Jews and Christians.
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said that one of the characteristics of this nation is that God will not gather two swords against it, a sword from its enemy and a sword from itself. Rather, it is possible that the enemies will invade it from the outside while it defends itself, or that killing will occur within it, while the enemies watch. So he, may God bless him and grant him peace, said in the authentic hadith narrated by Abu Dawud: God will not gather two swords against this nation, a sword from itself and a sword from its enemy. [Narrated by Abu Dawud: 4303, and authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami’: 5221]
The fighting that will take place between us at the end of time is between us and the Jews and Christians. Other peoples may fight, just as the Muslims and Christians will fight an enemy from outside them, and then the epic battle will occur between the Muslims and Christians, But the main basic epic battles mentioned in the hadiths about the epic battles at the end of time are between us and these Christians on the one hand, and between us and the Jews and the Antichrist with them on the other hand. These are the basic epic battles.
Allah says
And never will the Jews or the Christians be pleased with you until you follow their religion [Al-Baqarah: 120], and they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able [Al-Baqarah: 217]
Hadith of Awf bin Malik in Sahih Al-Bukhari: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during the Battle of Tabuk, and greeted him. He responded, and said: “May I enter?” I said: “May I eat, O Messenger of God?” He said: “Eat.” So I entered, and he said: I have prepared six things before the Hour: my death, then the conquest of Jerusalem, then two deaths that will take you like sheep falling, then an abundance of money until a man is given a hundred dinars and he remains discontented, then a tribulation that will not leave a house of the Arabs without entering it, then there will be a truce between you and the yellow people. Who are they? The Christian Romans. They will betray you and come to you under eighty banners, meaning a banner under each banner, twelve thousand. [Narrated by Al-Bukhari: 3176] There will be a truce between us and the yellow people in the future, a peace treaty to stop fighting, after there had been fighting.
In another narration
You will make peace with the Romans in a secure peace. Narrated by Abu Dawud: 4294, and authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Abi Dawud: 2405 - meaning that a time will come upon us with the Crusaders when there will be a truce and a secure peace between us, a peace in which we will be safe and they will be safe.
It was narrated in a narration by Abu Dawood
what Al-Hakim narrated on the authority of Sahl, on the authority of Abu Salih, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: The Hour will not come until the Romans descend into the depths. Then a group of the best people of the earth will come out to them from Medina on that day. When they line up in rows, the Romans will say: Leave us alone with those who were taken captive from among us, so that we may fight them. Then the Muslims will say: no, by God, we will not leave you alone with our brothers (who have recently converted to Islam) so that they fight them, and a third of them will be defeated, and God will never forgive them (a third of the Muslim army will be defeated, disobedient people who fled from the battlefield, and committed one of the seven major sins, and God will not grant them repentance, and He does not grant them success in repentance. A third will be killed, and they are the best martyrs in the sight of God Almighty. A third will remain and will never be tempted. They will reach Constantinople and conquer it. While they are dividing their spoils and have hung their weapons on olive trees, Satan shouts, “The Messiah has left you behind among your families.”
The judge said in Al-Mashariq: In this hadith there is an indication that the battle is preceded by battles in which the Muslims seize spoils, including prisoners, and these prisoners convert to Islam and are in the ranks of the Muslims. For this reason, the Romans want to fight their own people, but the Muslims refrain from doing so, and then the battle ends with the conquest of Constantinople... It is not possible to be certain about the type of weapons that will be used in this battle, because nothing has been mentioned in the Shari'ah about that.
This place, called Marj Dabiq
is close to the Syrian-Turkish border today. The Muslim army will descend there - then there will be a truce between you and the yellow people, but they will betray you and come to you under eighty banners, under each banner twelve thousand.
And the reason for this treachery during this truce
after we and them fight another enemy, In this truce between us and them, the Muslims will descend to Marj Dhi Talul, or Marj Dabiq, this place near the town of Aleppo in Syria today, and a Christian man will raise the cross and say: The cross has prevailed, so a Muslim man becomes angry and is overcome with zeal. How can he raise the cross and say: The cross won? So he crushes it and takes the cross and breaks it. At that moment, the Romans betray and gather for the great battle. [Narrated by Abu Dawud: 4294, and authenticated by Al-Albani. Sahih Abi Dawud: 2405] Then a Muslim man rises up to him and kills him. It was mentioned in the hadith that the Romans rise up to this Muslim and kill him. At that point, the Romans begin to gather armies against the Muslims. It was mentioned in Al-Hakim’s Mustadrak and Al-Dhahabi authenticated it.
The leader of the Muslims says
Rather, God has prevailed. Rather, God has prevailed, and not the cross. They are discussing it among themselves, so it becomes aroused. That is, the speech has now become intended between Christians and Muslims: the cross has prevailed. God has prevailed, The cross has been victorious. God has been victorious, so the Muslims will rise up to their cross while they are not far from it, and crush it. The Romans will rise up to the one who broke their cross and kill him, and the Muslims will rise up to their weapons and fight
The meaning
with the Romans. So God will honor that group of Muslims with martyrdom. Those Muslims who were in that place, all of them will be martyred, so the Romans will say to the leader of the Romans, the Christian army will say to their leader and their commander, we have spared you the punishment of the Arabs.
In a narration by Al-Tabarani
We have spared you the Arabs’ strength and their might. We have destroyed the Arabs and broken the Arabs’ power. However, they call them Arabs, and they betray and gather for the epic battle, and they come to you under eighty banners - or flags - under each banner twelve thousand [Al-Mustadrak: 8298, and Al-Tabarani in Al-Kabeer: 4231, and Al-Albani authenticated it in Mishkat Al-Masabih: 5428].
The Muslims rise up to their weapons when their brother who broke the cross is killed
They fight the infidels, but God Almighty wills that these: the vanguard of the Muslims, all of them be killed. Then the Christians gather the army to sweep away the Muslims and they gather. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said in a narration by Muslim: The Hour will not come until the Romans descend upon al-Amaq or Dabiq. This is Mar Dabiq, and an army from Medina will go out to them.
What is meant by Dabiq and what is meant by the city?
Marj Dabiq is a meadow with mounds - a wide land with many plants where animals graze, and mounds: everything that has accumulated from the ground of sand or dirt
As for what is meant by the city, the author of "Marqat al-Mafatih Sharh Mishkat al-Masabih" said:
1 - It was said: What is meant by it is (Aleppo) because it is the closest Muslim city to that hill, or the spacious place where the battle will take place.
2 - It was said: What is meant by it is (Damascus) because it is the main gathering center of Muslims, the camp of Muslims is in the city of Damascus as mentioned in another hadith.
3 - It was said that what is meant by it is (the Prophet’s City). The commentator said: Weak.
Because what is meant by the army that goes out to the Romans is the army of the Mahdi, according to another proof, meaning: that in it is the descent of the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, and because the city will be in ruins at that time, meaning: it will become deserted, and the people will go out to the Levant to fight, Marqat al-Mafatih: 15/400 This army will either leave Aleppo or Damascus. He said: A third will be defeated. Now the Muslim army will leave for this meadow, for this battlefield, and the Roman army has come with eighty banners, under each banner twelve thousand, so the total is 960 thousand, Ibn Hajar: Perhaps what is meant is a thousand thousand, meaning a million, but the fraction was left out. That is, if we divide the million by eighty banners, there will be twelve thousand and fractions in each banner, meaning they are approximately a million Christian fighters.
Some commentators say
This great epic between us and the Christians, and it could be the greatest epic ever, for the Muslims have never faced a Christian army of a million, throughout history, so this is the greatest battle, and the last battle.
Muslim, may God have mercy on him, narrated on the authority of Yasir ibn Jabir, who said: “A red wind blew in Kufa, and a Hagery man came; who had no business or habit. Except: O Abdullah ibn Masoud! The Hour has come! O Abdullah ibn Masoud! The Hour has come! O Abdullah ibn Masoud,, The Hour has come. When this man saw the red wind, he said: This is the Hour. Who was in Kufa? The great companion Abdullah bin Masoud. So he sat down, meaning Abdullah bin Masoud. He was reclining, and he said: The Hour will not come until the inheritance is not divided, and no one rejoices over the spoils, It is as if Abdullah bin Masoud is saying to this man: Wait, wait, not now, because before the Day of Resurrection there will be an important event, and since this event did not happen, then the Day of Resurrection will not be now! This is a red wind that may be a torment, it may be a trial, that God has sent upon the people of the country.
Abdullah bin Masoud's description of the battle
I said: Do you mean the Romans? He said: Yes, and at that time there will be a severe apostasy, so the Muslims will stipulate a condition of death that will not return except victorious, so they will fight until night separates them, every group returns to its army, each one not victorious: meaning: the battle was not decided and the police were destroyed, the Muslim police and the vanguard they sent out, they all die, they are killed in the way of Allah. Then the Muslims stipulate a police for death. “They all pledged to die. A vanguard from the Muslim army goes out and they pledged to die, they will not return except victorious.” Meaning: In this attack, but the fighting continues and they fight until night comes between them, and these and those return, each without a victor, and the police are destroyed (so this is the second group of Muslims who were also all killed). Then the Muslims stipulate a police of death, which does not return except victorious, and they fight until evening, then these and those will return, none of them victorious, and the police will be destroyed. Then, when the fourth day comes, he will rise up and advance towards them, meaning towards the Christians, the rest of the people of Islam, all the Muslim army. Then God will turn their backs on them”: meaning: on the Christians, so they will turn their backs, be defeated, and be killed in a massacre”: or the Muslims will be killed in a massacre. The likes of which have never been seen - or he said: the likes of which have never been seen - until even a bird will pass by their sides, and it will not leave them until it falls dead” [Narrated by Muslim: 2899.
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
The tent of the Muslims (i.e. the general headquarters of the Muslims, or the general leadership of the Muslims) In Ghouta, next to a city called Damascus, one of the best cities of the Levant [Narrated by Abu Dawud: 4300, and authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami’: 2116]
What happens after the end of this epic? When this battle ends, and this huge epic ends, the Muslims will head to the strongest city near this place for the Christians, It is Constantinople. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, in a hadith in Sahih Muslim: “And a third will be conquered, and they will never be tempted.” So they will conquer Constantinople. Narrated by Muslim: 2897.
In the hadith of Abu Dawood on the authority of Muadh, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: The reconstruction of Jerusalem is the destruction of Yathrib, We said: The destruction is not a condition of buildings, but rather the abandonment of the country for one reason or another, including that the Muslims will join the Levant because the leadership will be there, and the confrontation with the Christians, Jews, and the Antichrist will be in the Levant.
How will the conquest of Constantinople be? It was mentioned in another hadith of Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Have you heard of a city, part of which is on land and part of which is in the sea? They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, “This is the city of Constantinople.” [An-Nawawi’s commentary on Muslim: 18/45] “King Constantine built it in a triangular shape, with two sides on the sea and one on land.” [Fayd al-Qadr: 8/22].
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
The Hour will not come until seventy thousand of the children of Ishaq invade it. [Narrated by Muslim: 2920]
Some commentators said
Here there is a delusion and an error in the narration, and what is meant is the sons of Ishmael and not the sons of Isaac, because the sons of Ishmael are the Arabs and the sons of Isaac are the Romans.
Some of them said
that what is meant is that there are seventy thousand Romans, Muslims who will be with the army that will invade Constantinople, so what is wrong with the speech being straight?
The origin is that there is no change in the reliable narrator? What is the obstacle? Weren’t there people from the Romans who converted to Islam with the Muslims in the war against the Christians and were with the Muslim army in the Battle of Marj Dabiq? So what is the obstacle to seventy thousand of the sons of Ishaq, from the Romans, being present in the Muslim army that would invade Constantinople? When they came to it, they would camp in a place outside the city, and they would not fight with weapons or shoot an arrow. They would only say: There is no god but God, and God is Great! The Muslim army would repeat this phrase, and one of its sides, which was in the sea, would fall. Then they would say the second: There is no god but God and God is Great. Then the other side falls and the second side surrenders. Then they say the third time: There is no god but God and God is Great. Then it is opened for them and they enter it.
God - Blessed and Exalted be He - will cast terror into the hearts of the infidels in Constantinople, and with the mere proclamation of “Allahu Akbar” and “Allahu Laahu Alayhi Wasallam,” the country will fall. He will cast terror into the hearts of its people, so they will surrender and open the country to the Muslims. He said: “So He will make way for them, so they will enter it and take spoils.” While they are dividing up the spoils...
In another narration
while they were dividing the spoils, they hung their swords on olive trees. Fighting with swords, and hanging swords on olive trees after the battle or after the conquest, the devil shouted at them. The devil shouts at whom? to the Muslims, the Messiah - meaning the Antichrist - has left you in your families. Now they are in the forefront in Constantinople, and their backs, and their families are behind them in the Levant, in Damascus. So he says to them: The Messiah has appeared among your families. He said: So they go out, and that is false, Narrated by Muslim: 2897. In another narration: They leave everything and return. [Narrated by Muslim: 2920] that is, they leave the spoils and return to their headquarters, and at that time the Antichrist will have actually emerged. So the first time Satan speaks and shouts, he is a liar, so the Muslims return and the Antichrist will actually emerge.
It was narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Busr that he said
to Bishr bin Abdullah bin Yasar, who was one of the companions of Omar bin Abdul Aziz: “O son of my brother! If you witness the conquest of Constantinople, So do not neglect to take your share of it, for between its conquest and the emergence of the Antichrist there will be seven years.” [Kitab al-Fitan by Na’im ibn Hammad: 1320] This chain of transmission is good, but it is not marfu’, and the marfu’ in it is weak.
It was narrated on the authority of Abdullah ibn Muhayriz, the follower
Between the epic battle, the destruction of Constantinople, and the emergence of the Antichrist, a woman carried the book of trials by Naim ibn Hammad: 1477]. That is, nine months.
If someone says
Constantinople was conquered and finished, then it is said: The conquest that took place is not the conquest mentioned in the hadith. The conquest that took place involved battles, bloodshed, and the use of cannons, It does not mention, as was mentioned, the conquest that the hadith spoke about after the emergence of the Antichrist, and the conquest of Constantinople that Muhammad al-Fatih carried out took place decades of very long years ago and the Antichrist did not emerge, so he is not what is meant, Then the conquest of Constantinople that happened was followed later by the fact that Constantinople today is not ruled by the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, but rather is ruled by the secular ideas of Kemal Ataturk, Constantinople will remain at the time of the battle under the authority of the Christians, and the Muslims will take control of it, and it will fall with the shouts of Allahu Akbar and Tahlil,
this is with regard to
the first great epic battle with the Christians and the fall of Constantinople. Rome remained for them, and it will be conquered later, because he said: The city of Heraclius will be conquered first [Narrated by Ahmad: 6645, and authenticated by Al-Albani in As-Silsilah As-Saheehah: 4] the hadith.
The fall of Constantinople will be followed by the conquest of Rome
Will the conquest of Rome take place during the reign of Jesus, son of Mary? Because after Constantinople, the Antichrist will emerge, and after the Antichrist emerges, Jesus will descend, and during the reign of Jesus, the entire earth will be filled with Islam.
