Abu Isa said: This is a good, strange hadith. More than one person narrated this hadith on the authority of Israel, on the authority of Samak, on the authority of Jabir bin Samurah, who said: I saw the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, reclining on a pillow, and he did not mention on his left.

[ 2769 ] حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد حدثنا بهز بن حكيم حدثني أبي عن جدي قال قلت يا رسول الله عوراتنا ما نأتي منها وما نذر قال احفظ عورتك إلا من زوجتك أو مما ملكت يمينك فقال الرجل يكون مع الرجل قال إن استطعت أن لا يراها أحد فأفعل قلت والرجل يكون خاليا قال فالله أحق أن يستحيا منه قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن وجد بهز اسمه معاوية بن حيدة القشري وقد روى الجريري عن حكيم بن معاوية وهو والد بهز [2769] Muhammad ibn Bashar told us, Yahya ibn Saeed told us, Bahz ibn Hakim told us, my father told me, on the authority of my grandfather, who said: I said, O Messenger of God, what should we do with our private parts and what should we refrain from doing? He said, Guard your private parts except from your wife or from what your right hand possesses. The man said, What about the man who is with the man? He said, If you can make sure that no one sees it, then do so. I said, What about the man who is alone? He said, Then God is more deserving of being ashamed of. Abu Isa said: This is a good hadith, and Bahz’s grandfather was named Muawiyah ibn Haidah al-Qusharri, and al-Jariri narrated on the authority of Hakim ibn Muawiyah, who is Bahz’s father.

[ 2768] حدثنا أبو كريب حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان وعبد الرحيم عن محمد بن عمرو حدثنا أبو سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال رأى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رجلا مضطجعا على بطنه فقال إن هذه ضجعة لا يحبها الله وفي الباب عن طهفة وابن عمر قال أبو عيسى وروى يحيى بن أبي كثير هذا الحديث عن أبي سلمة عن يعيش بن طهفة عن أبيه ويقال طخفة والصحيح طهفة وقال بعض الحفاظ الصحيح طخفة ويقال طغفة يعيش هو من الصحابة [2768] Abu Kuraib told us, Abdah bin Sulayman and Abd al-Rahim told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Amr, Abu Salamah told us, on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saw a man lying on his stomach, so he said: This is a position that God does not like. There is a hadith on the same topic on the authority of Tahfah and Ibn Umar. Abu Isa said: Yahya bin Abi Katheer narrated this hadith on the authority of Abu Salamah on the authority of Ya’ish bin Tahfah on the authority of his father. It is said: Takhfah, but the correct version is Tahfah. Some of the hadith masters said: Takhfah, and it is said: Tughfah, Ya’ish, he is one of the Companions.

[ 2766] حدثنا عبيد بن أسباط بن محمد القرشي حدثنا أبي حدثنا سليمان التيمي عن خداش عن أبي الزبير عن جابر قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا استلقى أحدكم على ظهره فلا يضع إحدى رجليه على الأخرى هذا حديث رواه غير واحد عن سليمان التيمي ولا يعرف خداش هذا من هو وقد روى له سليمان التيمي غير حديث [2766] Ubayd ibn Asbat ibn Muhammad al-Qurashi told us, my father told us, Sulayman al-Taymi told us, on the authority of Khidash, on the authority of Abu al-Zubayr, on the authority of Jabir, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: If one of you lies on his back, he should not place one of his legs on top of the other. This is a hadith narrated by more than one person on the authority of Sulayman al-Taymi, and it is not known who this Khidash is. Sulayman al-Taymi narrated more than one hadith on his authority.

[ 2765] حدثنا سعيد بن عبد الرحمن المخزومي وغير واحد قالوا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن عباد بن تميم عن عمه أنه رأى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مستلقيا في المسجد واضعا إحدى رجليه على الأخرى قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح وعم عباد بن تميم هو عبد الله بن زيد بن عاصم المازني [2765] Sa`id ibn `Abd al-Rahman al-Makhzumi and others told us: Sufyan ibn `Uyaynah told us, on the authority of al-Zuhri, on the authority of `Ibad ibn Tamim, on the authority of his uncle, that he saw the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, lying down in the mosque, placing one of his legs on the other. Abu `Isa said: This is a good, authentic hadith, and the uncle of `Ibad ibn Tamim is `Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn `Asim al-Mazini.

[ 2763] حدثنا الحسن بن علي الخلال حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع عن بن عمر قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أحفوا الشوارب وأعفوا اللحى قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث صحيح [2763] Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Khalal told us, Abdullah bin Numayr told us, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Umar, on the authority of Nafi’, on the authority of Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Trim the moustache and let the beard grow. Abu Isa said: This is an authentic hadith.

[ 2762 ] حدثنا هناد حدثنا عمر بن هارون عن أسامة بن زيد عن عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن جده أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يأخذ من لحيته من عرضها وطولها قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث غريب وسمعت محمد بن إسماعيل يقول عمر بن هارون مقارب الحديث لا أعرف له حديثا ليس إسناده أصلا أو قال ينفرد به إلا هذا الحديث كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يأخذ من لحيته من عرضها وطولها لا نعرفه إلا من حديث عمر بن هارون ورأيته حسن الرأي في عمر قال أبو عيسى وسمعت قتيبة يقول عمر بن هارون كان صاحب حديث وكان يقول الإيمان قول وعمل قال سمعت قتيبة حدثنا وكيع بن الجراح عن رجل عن ثور بن يزيد أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نصب المنجنيق على أهل الطائف قال قتيبة قلت لوكيع من هذا قال صاحبكم عمر بن هارون [2762] Hannad narrated to us, Umar ibn Harun narrated to us, on the authority of Usamah ibn Zayd, on the authority of Amr ibn Shu`ayb, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to take from the width and length of his beard. Abu `Isa said: This is a strange hadith. I heard Muhammad ibn Isma`il say: Umar ibn Harun is a reliable narrator of hadith. I do not know of any hadith of his whose chain of transmission is not authentic, or he said: He is the only one who narrates it, except this hadith: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to take from the width and length of his beard. We do not know of it except from the hadith of Umar ibn Harun. I saw that he had a good opinion of Umar. Abu `Isa said: I heard Qutaybah say: Umar ibn Harun was a hadith master, and he used to say: Faith is words and deeds. He said: I heard Qutaybah tell us: Waki` ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, on the authority of a man, on the authority of Thawr ibn Yazid, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, set up a catapult against the people of Ta`if. Qutaybah said: I said to Waki`: Who is this? He said: Your companion Umar ibn Harun.

[ 2761] حدثنا أحمد بن منيع حدثنا عبيدة بن حميد عن يوسف بن صهيب عن حبيب بن يسار عن زيد بن أرقم أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من لم يأخذ من شاربه فليس منا وفي الباب عن المغيرة بن شعبة قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن يوسف بن صهيب بهذا الإسناد نحوه [2761] Ahmad bin Mani’ narrated to us, Ubaidah bin Hamid narrated to us, on the authority of Yusuf bin Suhaib, on the authority of Habib bin Yasar, on the authority of Zaid bin Arqam, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever does not trim his moustache is not one of us.” And in this chapter, on the authority of Al-Mughira bin Shu’ba, Abu Isa said: This is a good, authentic hadith. Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, on the authority of Yusuf bin Suhaib, with this chain of transmission, similar to it.

[ 2758 ] حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور أخبرنا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث حدثنا صدقة بن موسى أبو محمد صاحب الدقيق حدثنا أبو عمران الجوني عن أنس بن مالك عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه وقت لهم في كل أربعين ليلة تقليم الأظفار وأخذ الشارب وحلق العانة [2758] Ishaq bin Mansur told us, Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith told us, Sadaqah bin Musa Abu Muhammad, the owner of the flour, told us, Abu Imran al-Joni told us, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he set a time for them every forty nights to trim their nails, trim their moustache, and shave their pubic hair.

[ 2757] حدثنا قتيبة وهناد قالا حدثنا وكيع عن زكريا بن أبي زائدة عن مصعب بن شيبة عن طلق بن حبيب عن عبد الله بن الزبير عن عائشة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال عشر من الفطرة قص الشارب وإعفاء اللحية والسواك والاستنشاق وقص الأظفار وغسل البراجم ونتف الإبط وحلق العانة وانتقاص الماء قال زكريا قال مصعب ونسيت العاشرة إلا أن تكون المضمضة قال أبو عبيد انتقاص الماء الاستنجاء بالماء وفي الباب عن عمار بن ياسر وابن عمر وأبي هريرة قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن [2757] Qutaybah and Hannad told us: They told us: Waki` told us, on the authority of Zakariya ibn Abi Zaydah, on the authority of Mus`ab ibn Shaybah, on the authority of Talq ibn Habib, on the authority of `Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, on the authority of `Aishah, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Ten are from the fitrah: trimming the moustache, letting the beard grow, using the siwak, inhaling water into the nose, trimming the nails, washing the knuckles, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and using water to clean oneself with. Zakariya said: Mus`ab said: I forgot the tenth, unless it was rinsing the mouth. Abu `Ubayd said: using water to clean oneself with water. There is a hadith on this topic on the authority of `Ammar ibn Yasir, Ibn `Umar, and Abu Hurayrah. Abu `Isa said: This is a good hadith.

[ 2755] حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا قبيصة حدثنا سفيان عن حبيب بن الشهيد عن أبي مجلز قال خرج معاوية فقام عبد الله بن الزبير وابن صفوان حين رأوه فقال اجلسا سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول من سره أن يتمثل له الرجال قياما فليتبوأ مقعده من النار وفي الباب عن أبي أمامة قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن حدثنا هناد حدثنا أبو أسامة عن حبيب بن الشهيد عن أبي مجلز عن معاوية عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مثله [2755] Mahmud ibn Ghailan told us, Qubaysah told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of Habib ibn al-Shahid, on the authority of Abu Majlaz, who said: Muawiyah went out, and Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr and Ibn Safwan stood up when they saw him, so he said: Sit down. I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say: Whoever would like men to stand up for him, let him take his seat in the Fire. And in this chapter, on the authority of Abu Umamah, Abu Isa said: This is a good hadith. Hannad told us, Abu Usamah told us, on the authority of Habib ibn al-Shahid, on the authority of Abu Majlaz, on the authority of Muawiyah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, the same.

[ 2753] حدثنا سويد أخبرنا عبد الله أخبرنا شعبة عن قتادة عن أبي مجلز أن رجلا قعد وسط حلقة فقال حذيفة ملعون على لسان محمد أو لعن الله على لسان محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم من قعد وسط الحلقة قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح وأبو مجلز أسمه لاحق بن حميد [2753] Suwaid told us, Abdullah told us, Shu`bah told us, on the authority of Qatadah, on the authority of Abu Majlaz, that a man sat in the middle of a circle, and Hudhayfah said, “Cursed on the tongue of Muhammad,” or “May God curse on the tongue of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, whoever sits in the middle of a circle.” Abu `Isa said, “This is a good, authentic hadith, and Abu Majlaz’s name is Lahiq ibn Hamid.”
