5283 - Do you not ferment it, even if you put on it a stick?

5283 - حدثنا قتيبة: حدثنا جرير، عن الأعمش، عن أبي صالح وأبي سفيان، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال:جاء أبو حُمَيد بقدح من لبن من النَّقيع، فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: (ألا خمَّرته، ولو أن تعرض عليه عوداً).

Fermentation: The drink is soaked in raisins or dates, then filtered and drunk

[R: 1575]. 5283 - Qutaiba told us: Jarir told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Abu Salih and Abu Sufyan, on the authority of Jaber bin Abdullah, he said: Abu Humaid brought a cup of milk from the soaked, The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: (Would you not leave it soaked, even if you put on it a stick.

We take from the hadith

1 - It is permissible to put raisins or the like in milk, drink the milk, and eat the fruits inside

2- Preferring to cover the leavened thing, even with a stick - perhaps lest insects fall into it
