[79] حدثنا محمد بن العلاء قال: حدثنا حماد بن أسامة عن بريد بن عبد الله عن أبي بردة عن أبي موسى عن النبي ﷺ قال: مثل ما بعثني الله به من الهدى والعلم كمثل الغيث الكثير أصاب أرضا فكان منها نقية قبلت الماء فأنبتت الكلأ والعشب الكثير وكانت منها أجادب أمسكت الماء فنفع الله بها الناس فشربوا وسقوا وزرعوا وأصابت منها طائفة أخرى إنما هي قيعان لا تمسك ماء ولا تنبت كلأ فذلك مثل من فقه في دين الله ونفعه ما بعثني الله به فعلم وعلم ومثل من لم يرفع بذلك رأسا ولم يقبل هدى الله الذي أرسلت به قال أبو عبد الله، قال إسحاق وكان منها طائفة قيّلت الماء قاع يعلوه الماء والصفصف المستوي من الأرض
[79] Muhammad bin Al-Ala told us, he said: Hammad bin Osama told us, on the authority of Bareed bin Abdullah, on the authority of Abu Burda, on the authority of Abu Musa, on the authority of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who said: The example of what God has sent me with of guidance and knowledge is like abundant rain, It hit the ground, and it was "pure and accepted the water", so it sprouted pastures and a lot of grass, And among them was “barrens” that held the water, so God benefited the people with it, so they drank, watered and planted, and another group of them hit, but they are bottoms that do not hold water and do not grow pasture, that is the parable of the one who understands the religion of God and benefits it what God has sent me with, So he learned and learned, and the example of one who did not raise his head with that and did not accept the guidance of God, with which I was sent, said Abu Abdullah, Isaac said, and there was a group of them that poured water, a bottom that was topped with water and rows that were flat from the ground.

Imam Ibn Baz's opinion
This is how the world with which God has benefited people, taught people and spread knowledge - and there are scholars whose knowledge prevailed over memorization and mastery, but it is not their business to understand and foresight, and eliciting judgments, and the illusion of preserving; these people are like the land that held the water until people drank from it and sowed and cultivated and preserved, People took knowledge from them and transferred knowledge from them, and people benefited from them. As for the rest of the people, and they are the majority, they are like bottoms that do not hold water, It does not grow like anything that water passes over it, and it does not benefit anything in it, This is the state of most people who do not learn, do not benefit, and do not benefit others
As if the meaning (there are 3 types of land)
The Primary land (pure land: i.e. fertile)
accepted the water and it grew pastures and a lot of grass, like the believer is like this fertile land, before the sermon, so the best of knowledge, understanding, work and education came out of him.
The second ground (barren but can catch water as if it were lower than the ground)
It was like a basin of water that people drank from, or perhaps they drank their animals, and watered their crops from it, so they benefited and benefited those around them, This land is like a believer, too. The believer is always and forever beneficial to others, without holding onto good for himself and only.
The third land (Bottoms: a low land that does not drink water and only grows weeds
There is no benefit from it, or perhaps it does not sprout from the beginning, for it is like a non-believer in God and His Messenger and that no good for people comes out of him, perhaps for himself and for his own benefit and only.
Now: How do we classify ourselves: From what land: We are? And remember ِwhat's Almighty - saying,
مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ (55) سورة طه
From it we created you, and into it we will bring you back, and from it we will bring you out another time (55) Surah Taha
Remember that your father Adam was created from all kinds of soil, including red and black and so on, to bring forth from the children of Adam the easy, the good, the bad and so on like lands as well.
