Surah Al-Baqara: page (16)

And follow what the devils recite against Solomon's kingship, and Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, they teach people magic and what was revealed to the two angels in Babylon Harut and Marutah, and they do not teach anyone of them until they say, "We are only a trial." So do not be disbelife, so they learn from them that which they differentiate between a man and his wife, and they do not harm anyone with it except with Allah' permission, and they learn that which harms them and does not benefit them, and they have already known that whoever buys it has no luck in the Hereafter, and how bad is that for which they bought themselves, if only they knew (102)

And they followed

  Means the Jews

The devils did not recite) that is: they did not recite, and the Arabs put the future in the place of the past, and the past in the place of the future, and it was said: You did not recite any recitation

The stry of the verse (1)

That the demons wrote magic and narrations on the tongue of Asif bin Barkhiya. This is what Asef bin Barkhiya taught Solomon the King, then they buried it under his prayer place until God took away the kingdom from him, and Solomon did not realize that. When he died, they took it out and said to the people: Solomon possessed them with it, so they learned it. As for the scholars of the Children of Israel and their righteous people, they said, God forbid that this be from the knowledge of God. As for the lowly, they said: This is the knowledge of Solomon, and they accepted to learn it, and they rejected the books of their prophets, and the blame spread on Solomon, this continued their condition and their actions until God sent Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and revealed to him the innocence of Solomon. This is what al-Kalbi said.

Al-Sadi said (2)

The devils used to ascend to the heavens, and they would hear the words of the angels about death and other things on earth, so they would come to the priests and mix up seventy lies with what they heard, and they tell them about it [so he wrote that] and it was spread among the children of Israel that the jinn know the unseen, so Solomon sent among the people and collected those books and put them in a box and buried them under his chair and said, I do not hear anyone say that Satan knows the unseen except that I struck his neck. when Solomon died, the scholars who knew about Solomon and buried the books were gone, and there was a successor after them, Satan in the form of a human being, and he came to a group of the children of Israel and said: Shall I show you a treasure that you will never eat? They said: Yes, so he went with them and showed them the place that was under his throne, so they dug, and he set up a place, and they said to him: Come near, and he said: I will not come, and if you do not find him, kill me, and that was because none of the devils came close to the chair but that it was burned, so they dug and took out those books, and Satan, may God curse him, said: Solomon used to control the jinn, humans, demons, and birds with this, then Satan flew away from them, It was spread among the people that Solomon was a magician, and they took those books (and used them), so that is why magic is most found among the Jews, when Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, came, God Almighty acquitted Solomon of that, and revealed the excuse of Solomon, (And Solomon did not disbelieve) in magic, and it was said: Solomon did not disbelieve in magic and practice it, but the devils disbelieved.

It was narrated on the authority of Al-Shafi’i, may God be pleased with him, that he said

Magic makes imagination and sickness, and it may kill, to the point that it requires retribution for whoever is killed by it, so it is the work of Satan, and the magician receives it from him by teaching him it, If he receives it from him, he uses it for something else, and it is said: It affects the hearts of people, making the human being in the image of a donkey and making the donkey in the image of a dog, from their magic, it seems to him that it is seeking (66 - Taha), but it affects the bodies with diseases, death and madness, and speech has an effect on the nature and the soul, and a person may hear what he hates, and he becomes angry and may be protected from it.

If it is said, how is it permissible to teach magic from the angels?

It was said: It has two interpretations

The first interpretation

They do not intend to teach, but describe magic and mention its invalidity and order to avoid it, and teaching means informing, so the wretched one abandons their advice and learns magic from their craft.

The second interpretation

And it is more correct: that God Almighty tested people with the two angels at that time, so whoever is miserable learns magic from them and takes it from them and works with it, then he disbelieves in it, and whoever is happy leaves it and remains on the faith, and the two teachers increase in torment, so in it is a trial for the teacher [and the learner] and God is to test His servants as He wills, so it is for Him command and rule.

Harut and Marut

Two Syriac names, and their story was according to what Ibn Abbas and the commentators mentioned, that the angels saw what ascends to heaven from the evil deeds of the children of Adam in the time of Idris, peace be upon him, so they reproached them and said: these are the ones you made on earth as a khalifah and whom you chose, so they disobey you, so God Almighty said: If I sent you down to the earth and installed on you what I installed on them, you would have ridden as they rode, and they said: Glory be to You, we should not have disobeyed You. God Almighty said to them: So choose two angels from your choice and bring them down to earth, so they chose Harut and Marut, and they were among the most righteous of angels and worshiped them. Al-Kalbi said, God Almighty said to them: Choose three, so they chose Uzza, who is Harut, Azaya, who is Marut - he changed their name when they committed sin - and Azzael, so God installed lust in them and brought them down to earth, He commanded them to judge between people with justice, and forbade them from shirk, killing unjustly, fornication, and drinking alcohol, as for Azzael, when desire fell into his heart, he met his Lord and asked Him to raise him to the heavens, but He dismissed him, so he prostrated for forty years without raising his head, and he did not stop after lowering his head, ashamed of God Almighty.

As for the other two

For they were steadfast in that, and they used to spend their day among the people, and when evening came, they mentioned the greatest name of God and ascended to heaven, Qatada said: Not even a month passed between them until they gave a trail,

They all said

One day Al-Zahra became involved with them, and she was one of the most beautiful women. Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, said: She was from the people of Persia and was a queen in her country, when they saw her, she took hold of their hearts, so they turned her away from herself, so she refused and left. Then she came back on the second day, so they did the same thing, but she refused and said: no, except that you worship what I worship and pray to this idol and kill yourself and drink alcohol. They said there is no way for these things, because God Almighty has forbidden us, so she went away, then came back on the third day with a glass of wine, and in themselves from inclination to what is in her, so they kept her from herself, so she presented to them what she said yesterday, and they said, praying for other than God is great, and killing oneself is great, and the least of the three is drinking alcohol, so they drank alcohol and had intercourse with the woman, they committed adultery, and when they finished, a person saw them and killed him, said Ar-Rabi` bin Anas, and they prostrated themselves to the idol.

Ibn Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, said, al-Kalbi and al-Suddi

... So when it was evening Harut and Marut, after they had committed sin, they were about to ascend to the sky, but their wings did not obey them, so they knew what had befallen them of tenderness, so they went to Idris the Prophet, peace be upon him, so they informed him of their affair and asked him to intercede for them with God Almighty, and they said to him: We have seen you ascend for you acts of worship similar to what ascends to all the people of the earth, so intercede for us with your Lord, and Idris, peace be upon him, did that, so God gave them the choice between the torment of this world and the torment of the Hereafter, so they chose the torment of this world when they knew that it would be cut off, so they were tormented in Babylon, and they differed in how to torment them, Abdullah bin Masoud said: they are suspended by their feeling until the Hour

Atta bin Abi Rabah said

Their heads are pointed under their wings

  Qatada said

From their feet to the roots of their thighs

Mujahid said

They were put in a pit filled with fire, and Umar bin Saad said: Two men who are chained are beaten with iron whips

It was narrated that a man went to Harut and Marut to learn magic and found them hanging by their legs

Their eyes are blue, their skin is black, there is only four fingers between their tongues and the water, and they are tormented by thirst, when he saw that in their place, he said: There is no god but God. When they heard his words, they said to him: Who are you? He said: A man from the people, they said: From which nation are you? He said: From the nation of Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. They said: Was Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, sent? He said: Yes, they said: Praise be to God, and he showed foresight. They said that he is the prophet of the Hour, and the end of our torment is near.

the meaning

These Jews rejected the book of God, and followed what the devils used to recite and narrate during the reign of Solomon’s king, and in his time, of lies and disbelief, and from that they claimed that his kingdom was based on magic, and that he apostatized at the end of his life, and worshiped idols to please his pagan women, and other lies. Which they attached to him - peace be upon him - and he is innocent of it

The Jews believed that Solomon was infidel

And that he apostatized at the end of his life, and worshiped idols and built temples for them, and when the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, mentioned Solomon among the prophets, they said: Look at Muhammad mixing truth with falsehood, mentioning Solomon with the prophets, but he was a magician riding the wind

The main reason for bringing down magic in Babylon and why?

Babylon was singled out for landing because it was the country that most practiced magic, and its magicians had taken magic as a means to harness the masses for them in their bodies, minds and money, then they dragged them into worshiping idols and planets, and great corruption occurred, and falsehoods became widespread, so God - Blessed and Exalted be He - inspired Harut and Marut to reveal to people the truth of magic and its subtleties, so that they know that the sorcerers who turned them away from worshiping God to worshiping the planets and others have deceived and misled them, and with that they return to the straight path.

The majority of commentators said

They are two angels of truth that God - the Blessed and Exalted - sent down to teach people magic as a test for them, to expose the allegations of magicians who falsely claimed prophethood, and to mock the common people for them and lead them to worship other than God, {And Harut and Marut} are two names for the two angels upon whom magic was revealed, and they are substitutes or sympathies for the two angels, then He explained - Glory be to Him - a type of hateful magic that those magicians used to harm

And the Almighty said: So they learn from them what they separate between a man and his wife, that is, some people learn from the two angels what causes separation between a man and his wife.

Between the enchanted and the damage of magic

If God wills, the harm will happen because of the magic, and if He wills to prevent it, so that the bewitched person will not be affected by any harm from it, and He - Glory be to Him - expressed this meaning by the way of shortening it, an exaggeration in denying any effect of magic in itself, and a temptation for people to deny what the magicians claim that they have unseen powers other than the causes with which God linked the causes, and guiding them to good belief, sound certainty, and then He explained - Glory be to Him - That those who learn magic for the purpose of harm and to differentiate between those who love each other learn that which harms them and does not benefit them, and they did not learn it in order to differentiate between truth and falsehood, or to ward off evil from themselves with it. They took this teaching the path that harms them and does not benefit them, and they became disobedient to what the two angels advised them to do when teaching magic.

On the authority of Ibn Jurayj in this verse

No one dares to practice magic except an unbeliever. As for sedition, it is trial and test, and from it is the saying of the poet: People were tempted in their religion, and Ibn Affan left evil for a long time, Peace be upon him, when he said: (It is nothing but your temptation) that is: your affliction, your test and your test (you lead astray with it whom you will and guide whom you will) [Al-A’raf: 155] Some of them cited this verse as an expiation for those who learned magic

Abiut jabir bin Abdullah, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said “Satan puts his throne on the water, then sends his squadrons among the people, so the one who is closest to him is the one who is the greatest of them in temptation, one of them comes and says: I was still with so-and-so until I left him, and he says such-and-such. Iblees says: No, by God, I did nothing. Someone comes and says: I did not leave him until I separated him from his family, he said: So he brings him closer and close to him and adheres to him, and he says: Yes you are. One of the reasons for the division.

Magic

The magician is only a magician when

He seeks nearness by worshiping the devils, and throws the Qur’an into the bathrooms, rubbish, and rubbish bins, and rebukes God’s words with impurities and menstruation blood, and often one of them sits naked in the bathrooms, and deserted places, he sacrifices to demons, glorifies demons, and repeats talismans that bring him closer to demons, and in some meetings with some magicians, The repentant showed that they used to make the Qur’an a shoe. The Almighty said in His Holy Book: {Shall I tell you about whom the devils descend They descend on every sinful mouth They listen and most of them are liars} [Al-Shu’araa: 221-223]

Your judgment resort to soothsayers and magicians

PBUH" said -

((Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes him in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said - Peace be upon him - whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what he says, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days))

10 - The Magic of Madness

On the authority of Kharijah ibn al-Salt, on the authority of his uncle, that he came to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he embraced Islam, then he came back from him, and he passed by a people who had a mad man who was bound with iron, His family said: We were told that this friend of yours has come with good, so do you have anything to treat him with? I comforted him with the Opening of the Book, and he was cured, so they gave me one hundred sheep, so I went to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and told him, He said: ((Did you say other than this?)), I said: No, he said: ((Take it, for by my life, whoever eats a false telegram, I have eaten a true telegram))

The symptoms of insanity magic:

1- Absenteeism, stupor, and extreme forgetfulness.

2- Confusion in speech.

3- Persons of sight and its pairs.

4- Instability in one place.

5- Not continuing with a certain job.

6- Not caring about appearance.

7- In severe cases, it starts on its face, not knowing where to go? Perhaps he slept in deserted places.

Was the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - bewitched?

On the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, she said: ((The Prophet was enchanted so that it would appear to him that he was doing the thing and what he did, until one day when he was with me he called upon God and summoned him and then said: do you feel, O Aisha, that God has given me fatwas regarding what I have asked him about? I said: What is that, O Messenger of God? He said: Two men came to me, one of them sat at my head, and the other at my feet, then one of them said to his friend: What is the man's pain? He said: Labeed bin Al-Assam, a Jew from Bani Zureik, he said: What? He said: A comb, a comb, and dry the top of a male palm tree, He said: Where is he? He said: In the well of Dhi Arwan, so the Prophet went with some of his companions to the well, then he returned to Aisha and said: By God, her water would have been as if the infusion of henna, and her date palms would have been the heads of the devils, so he commanded that it be buried.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari.

Your magician

On the authority of Bajjala bin Abda, he said: Umar bin Al-Khattab wrote that kill every sorcerer, male and female, and on the authority of Jundub, may God be pleased with him, with the chain of transmission: ((The punishment of the sorcerer is a blow with the sword)) [Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi] It was authenticated on the authority of Hafsa, may God be pleased with her, that she ordered the killing of a slave-girl who had bewitched her, and she was killed.

The Views of the noble verse

1- It is as if the noble verse denies faith and piety for those who perform witchcraft for people, not only the priest himself, but also the one who uses the help of a soothsayer to make someone’s life worse, such as separating a married couple or other things, diseases, misery, etc., why? Because God Almighty says in the rest of the verse (If they had believed and pious of God, they would have had a better reward from God) from what they obtained from harming others, as the common people say: (Restrain your gaze from the sustenance of others, and you will be provided with sustenance) And this is just a lower gaze of an eye, let alone those who harm, destroy and destroy a person's life just because you hate him for good for one reason or another.

2- Doing injustice to people (witchcraft) is not only a major sin, and you, hater, have committed a major sin, but it is also injustice. It seems that Muslims are among the wrongdoers in life, where they oppress each other, there is no faith, no piety, and no waiting for God's reward - the Almighty - when they intend the evil.

O you who have believed, do not say, "care about us" and say, “Look at us, and listen, and for the disbelievers, there is a painful punishment.” (104)

What was narrated from Qatada

That it was a correct and understood word from the speech of the Arabs, and it agreed with a word from the speech of the Jews in a language other than the Arabic tongue, which according to the Jews is an insult, and according to the Arabs: care me your hearing and empty it to understand about me. So God, may He be exalted, knew the meaning of the Jews when they said that to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and that its meaning from them differs from its meaning in the words of the Arabs, so God Almighty forbade the believers from saying it to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, lest those whose meaning in that is other than the meaning of the believers in it, would not dare to address the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him

A view of the holy verses

1 - Among us in the world of people: who addresses dignitaries, presidents and kings, and only then: a person respects himself and chooses the best and the purest of words to respect the existence of this king, especially if it is a just and unjust king.

2 - This is the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds - Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace - and he is the last Messenger, so he must be respected alive and dead, so it is necessary to take into account the expressions that do not carry two meanings, It is bad manners with the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace -

3- In the world of people: the ambassadors of kings and presidents are respected by the countries they go to, otherwise they would not have gone to them in the first place, so what do we care about the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds to humanity, and he is the seal of the heavenly laws, so respect and purify the words with him, out of respect for God - Glory be to Him - and God is Most High and Knowing.

A Views of the verse

1- The friendliness is the highest level of love, for love is never the same as the friendliness. this verse is a message from God Almighty, The People of the Book and the polytheists will never wish you good, O Muslim, and the first good is the descent of Islam in the Arabs.

2- Is it possible to take the verse out of its context and the reasons for its revelation, so that it remains a rule of the rules, there are some people we will not say polytheists or people of the Book who never love to you a good, no matter how good you do them or stop harming them? Maybe they are Muslims? Perhaps we, as Muslims, took from the characteristics of the Jews what we took - O God, have mercy on us.

3 - God singles out whomever He wills with some kind of mercy, what do you have to do with it? Your interference in God's jurisdiction - the Almighty - with mercy, what is a kind of objection to the divine will, as if you are saying to God: I understand more than you, and what is more bad manners than this?
