The Islamic Mental Upbringing

(The five goals of Islam + The doctrinal + Some concepts and its requirement - The worldly Sciences)

In this file you will learn about the mentality of a righteous Muslim. If you are a living person in the East or the West, you have a mental background that is considered a subconscious mind that moves the person foreword without feeling. For example, the concepts change from the East to the Near East to the West. For example, what does the concept of the word love mean to you, or the concept of the word family mean to you? A study was conducted among 3 groups of people, A group from Japan, a group from Spain, and a group from America. The three groups were asked about the same concept, the concept of love. The Americans expressed the concept: that anyone, near or far, we say to him/her: I love you. As for the Japanese, they defined this concept with one word: love = family. As for the Spanish, their definition of love was: those they truly love, not just anyone. From this study, we conclude that each one of us, whether Eastern or Western, has a mental background and specific concepts in his head that he moves through without realizing it... What will this file include:

1- The doctrinal upbringing, which will include (The five goals of Islam + the pillars of Islam + the pillars of faith)

2- Some concepts of the background of the righteous Muslim

3- Worldly sciences, which will include only one model of Muslim scholars who learned purely sciences and excelled in them in their time.

First: The five goals of Islam
 The preserving of the religion

Why it requirement from us as a Muslims (goal from the five main goal in Islam to preserve the religion?

We ordered to:

1 - Not putting religion behind us in order to enjoy the world

Allah says

And when God took the covenant of those who were given the Book, that you should make it clear to the people, and do not conceal it, so they have cast it behind their backs, and they bought with it for a small price ۖ Evil is what they buy (187)

And if the talk is about the People of the Book, but we are concerned with this talk as Muslims: we know the religion or part of it, then we did not tell the people about it and explain it to them, and we rejected it: that is, we cast it away from our lives, and we bought the world and took advantage like them, did not show the religion to the people.

2 - Self preservation

Among the necessities of human life: the infallibility of the soul, and the preservation of the right to life, can we call it the right of life, or the gift of God? How do we say that and there are people who have committed suicide, and how do we say this and there is a so-called euthanized death in the West, and others were concerned with long life and called themselves Trans human, and between these and those, people do not feel the value of life, do you not see people on the white beds wishing for additional moments to enter their lives to see their children graduate, . This is life, and it is the first gift from God - the Most High - and whoever wants to get rid of it is like the one who receives a gift on his birthday and throws it on the ground and smashes it in front of those who gifted him with it. Life is for something that hurts us from the harm of the world to say as Allah says: ( Oh God, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of the Fire).

Islam has legislated several methods for self-preservation:

1 – The marriage

2 – preventing him/herself from slander and insults

As the say: He who avoids doubtful matters has cleared his religion.

3 - Islam forbids killing oneself, whether a person kills himself or someone else

4 - it is prescribed for a Muslim to defend himself if someone who wants to attack him attacks him

3 - The mind preservation

1 – Saved the mind with  prevented the wine drinking and playing with gambling

Allah says

“O you who have believed, only wine and facilitator, idols, and the lottery is an abomination from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful” [Al-Ma’idah: 90]

4 - The linage preservation

We do that through the following:

1-   The Marriage

2-    Learn the etiquette of asking permission to enter homes

to avoid unwanted glances and the harm that follows.

2      - Protect yourself from falling into adultery

3-   A painful punishment awaits chaste women accused of adultery

5 - Money preservation

We do that through the following:

1 - Encouragement to seek livelihood

Allah says

“It is He who has made the earth subservient to you, so walk in its paths and eat of His sustenance.” [Al-Mulk: 15]

2- Prohibition of acquiring money by illegal means that harm others

Allah says:

﴿ وَأَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا ﴾ [البقرة: 275]

The Almighty said: “And God has permitted trade and forbidden usury.” [Al-Baqarah: 275]

3 - The preventing of the stealing from others

Alla says

﴿ وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمَا ﴾[المائدة: 38

And the male and female thief, cut off their hands.” [Al-Ma’idah: 38]

Psychology: Why God of Muslims set Goals in Islam?

Why do we set goals in life?

The truth is that some goals are achieved while others are not, and it’s important to understand why. Mark Murphy, founder and CEO of LeadershipIQ.com and author of Hard Goals: The Secret to Getting From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, has spent years researching the science, how the brain works, and how we are wired to set goals. Murphy’s book Hard Goals: The Secret to Getting From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be combines the latest research in psychology and brain science on goal setting with the Law of Attraction to help fine-tune the process. A hard goal is a goal that has been achieved, according to Murphy (2010). Murphy tells us to put our present costs into the future and our future benefits into the present. What this really means is not putting off until tomorrow what you can do today. We tend to value things in the present moment much more than we value things in the future. Goal setting is a process that changes over time. The goals you set in your 20s are likely to be very different from the goals you set in your 40s. No matter how old you are, it doesn't really matter in the end, as long as you constantly revisit and update your life goals.

Second: The doctrinal
The pillar of Islam

1- There is no god but Allah, we practice it through the following:

it's the gateway to Islam and the hereafter

And in Al-Bukhari, from the hadith of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: If believers are saved from Hell, they will be imprisoned in a bridge between Heaven and Hell, they redress the grievances that existed between them in this world, until, when they are pure and refined, they will be allowed to enter Paradise.

In Islam this bridge called: Qantara (resolving grievances). Did you say there is no god but God from your heart? why did you wrong so-and-so? Is it true for God and His Messenger? Or were you doing it for the sake of (the ego) and some of it was the flood? Hold yourself accountable because tomorrow you will not be able to lie to the bridge and you will not even lie to yourself.

You must preserve others' money - honor - blood - properties

The prophets of God peace be upon him, said: Whoever has wronged someone regarding his honor or something, let him forgive him today before there is no dinar or dirham, If he has done a good deed, it will be taken from him in proportion to what he wronged, and if he has no good deeds, then some of his friends bad deeds will be taken and charged to him. agreed.

 Do not cheat people

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - passed by a container of food, so he inserted his hand into it and his fingers got wet, He said: (What is this, owner of the food?) He said: He was struck by heaven, O Messenger of God. He said: (Did you not place it above the food so that people could see it? Whoever cheats is not of me) Narrated by Muslim.

Don't betrayal anyone

On the authority of Sufyan bin Asad Al-Hadrami - may God be pleased with him - he said: I heard the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - saying: “It is a great betrayal to tell your brother a story he is beleive you , and you are a liar to him.” Narrated by Abu Daw

Don't be among the hypocrites

What he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The signs of a hypocrite are three: If he tells a lie, when he makes a promise he breaks it, and when he is entrusted he betrays it.” [Narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari in his Sahih.

The comment

The hypocrite one: who appears Islam and Hide disbelieve in Allah

Given the card of it in the day of the judgement

It was stated in the authentic hadith: (Then a card is taken out on which I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, and he says: Bring your weight, and he says: O Lord! What is this card with these records? It is said: You are not wronged, so the records are placed on one scale, and the card is on one scale, the records became scattered, the cards became heavy, and nothing is heavy with the name of God Almighty.)

The deserving of the intercession of the Messenger of God

“The two Sahih books” on the authority of Abu Hurairah, with a chain of transmission traceable to the Prophet: Who is the happiest person with your intercession, O Messenger of God?   He said: (Whoever says: there is no god but Allah sincerely from his heart)

Whose the last word were it he will enter the Paradise

He said - may God bless him and grant him peace - whoever’s last words are “There is no god but God” will enter Paradise. Narrated by Abudaw.

2 - Establishing the prayer
Allah says

{وأقم الصلاة إن الصلاة تنهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر} (العنكبوت:45)،

((Prayer forbids indecency and evil [Al-Ankabut: 45]))

((Prayer forbids indecency and evil [Al-Ankabut: 45]))

The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said when he was told: So-and-so prays all night, When the morning came, he steals, He said: What you say will stop him - or he said - his prayer will prevent him, Narrated by Ahmad, Al-Bazzar, Al-Tahawi, and Al-Baghawi with an authentic chain of transmission from the hadith of Abu Hurairah.

Immorality: adultery and all other extremely heinous sins.

3- Given the Zakat

On the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: (Three things I swear upon: God will not make anyone who has a share in Islam, like someone who has no arrow, and the arrows of Islam are three: the prayer, and fasting, and zakat, and God does not take charge of a servant in this world and give him someone else on the Day of Resurrection.) the talk. [Narrated by Ahmad with a good chain of transmission].

 4- Fasting Ramadan

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: (Whoever prays Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.) Agreed upon.

On the authority of Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: (A man’s temptation is in his family, his money, his children, and his neighbor, Prayer, fasting, charity, and commands and prohibitions expiate it.) Agreed upon.

5- Pilgrim to the Holy House

On the authority of Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, may God be pleased with her, she said: O Messenger of God! We see jihad as the best deed, so should we not strive? He said: (No, but the best jihad is a Hajj with not mixed with any sins) Narrated by Al-Bukhari.

Second: The pillars of faith

While we were with the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - one day, When a man appeared before us, whose clothes were extremely white and his hair was very black, with no signs of travel visible on him, None of us knew him, until he sat next to the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - and he leaned his knees against his knees, and placed his palms on his thighs, He said: O Muhammad, tell me about Islam? The Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - said: “Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace -, You perform prayers, pay zakat, fast Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House if you are able to find a way to it. He said: You are right. He said: We were amazed at him asking him and trust him, He said: So, tell me about faith? He said: To believe in God, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in destiny, its good and its evil, He said: You are right. He said: So, tell me about charity? He said: To worship God as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, He sees you. He said: So tell me about the hour? He said: The one asked about it has no knowledge than the questioner, He said: So tell me about its signs? He said: That the female slave will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see the barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing buildings, He said: Then he went and stayed for a while, then he said to me: O Omar, do you know who the questioner was? I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said: It is Gabriel who came to you to teach you your religion.) narrated by Muslim.

Third: Some concepts and its requirement
Honor the parents, concept

Allah says

(And lower for them the wing of humiliation out of mercy, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was young.” Surah Al-Isra 24)

We benefit from the verse the following

Young people often enjoy full vitality and physical and mental strength, which sometimes entails arrogance, so the verse comes with humility and lowering the head for the parents, and that is out of mercy and not humiliation, Pray for them in prayer five times a day, alive or dead, for this is from righteousness as they used to raise you when you were young

The virginity concept

Ismail bin Abdullah told us, he said: My brother told me, on the authority of Sulaiman, on the authority of Hisham bin Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, who said: I said, O Messenger of God, what do you think if you went down to a valley and in it was a tree that had been eaten, and you found a tree that had not been eaten, in which of them would you feed your camel? He said about the one that had not been fed. It means that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, did not marry another virgin except Her.

This is reflected in the background of a Muslim

in his preference for a woman who did not coexist with men before him, especially if she was not married, unless she repents from that

The affection, concept between spouses

Allah says

( هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ} [البقرة من الآية:187

(They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them) [Al-Baqarah: 187]

Dress covers defects before virtues, and thus marriage in Islam. We are nothing but human beings, full of faults before virtues, and we do not feel them unless someone alerts us to them, and the Muslim know that the pure, chaste woman who preserves his honor while she is on her way. Close to him is no less important than attaching to her with the same compassion, care and insensitivity between them, and if he is as her cloth: it must be cover inner  her defaults before outer ones, and she do the same with him and this is lead to the affection.

The menstruation, concept

The Almighty says:

{And they ask you about menstruation, say: It is harmful, so keep away from women in menstruation, and do not approach them until they purify from it.}

God Almighty described it as harmful, and science said: (The vaginal pH is higher and therefore less acidic than usual in the menstrual period, and the cervix is low, and its opening is more wide, and finally, the endometrium is absent during menstruation. All these three factors have theoretical risks to allow (for organisms accessing the bloodstream during penetrative sex) and others you can review in the link below. Therefore, it is forbidden for Muslims to have intercourse with it, and it is a normal thing for a non-Muslim woman. Rather, they appear to have some benefits such as relieving pain and so on. . .

The nuclear family, concept

The traditional Muslim family is extended, often spanning three or more generations. The extended structure provides many advantages, including stability, cohesion, and physical and psychological support, especially in times of need, and in this context it is reflected in the life of a Muslim living in the West, rather it reflects on his whole life, if he wants to do something unacceptable to the family, he is ostracized from his family, which is his small community in which he finds his primary comfort zone.

The sexual norms, concept

Sex in the context of marriage is a legitimate and enjoyable activity - an act of worship worthy of God's reward. On the contrary, heterosexual sex outside marriage is considered deviant and deserves punishment in the aftermath. In keeping with Orthodox Judeo-Christian teachings, homosexuality is considered a sin. However, a distinction is made between homosexuality and the act itself. The former is acceptable provided that it is not practiced, mixing does exist among Muslims, although its prevalence is, in all likelihood, much less than in some segments of Western society. Those who operate outside the Islamic framework often find themselves ostracized and responsible for discrediting the family name. Thus, the possibility of "going out" for gay Muslims is not realistic nowadays, and despite the positive view of sex, it is not a topic that is openly discussed. Cultural taboos require that sex remain a private matter between husband and wife. This explains, at least in part, why Muslims are so reluctant to seek help with sexual problems and how long it takes to see a doctor.

The pregnancy, concept

Many hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad glorify the virtues of marriage, childbearing, and fertility. The opinion of Muslims regarding contraception is divided, with a minority saying it is categorically prohibited while the majority view is that contraception is permitted but not encouraged. A small minority, largely confined to academic circles, suggests that effective family planning strategies are necessary to prevent the excessive global spread that many in the West have predicted. The prevalence of contraceptive use in Muslim countries varies greatly, reflecting these divergent views, and ranges from less than 5% (in Mauritania, northern Yemen, Somalia and Sudan) to more than 50% (in Turkey, Lebanon and Tunisia).

The inbreeding marriage, concept

is particularly common among Muslims of South Asian and Arab descent. Among Pakistani Muslims, current estimates are that about 75% of couples are related, and about 50% are married to first-degree cousins. This is an increase over their parents' generation, of whom only 30% are married to first-degree cousins.

Psychology: The impact of having core values in life (The concepts we refer to it above)

The Importance and Role of Values in Our Lives

“Values are like fingerprints, nobody’s are the same, but you leave them all over everything you do.”- Elvis Presley

Our values form a foundation for the way we design our life. how our value system impacts our lives and relationships.

The values and Our Relationships

If there is anything that matters in marriages, it is having the same set of values. The changing world has exposed individuals to a very vast and different set of values, and we are bound to meet people who have values that differ from ours. When it comes to our marriage, it is so important that couples have a similar or the same set of values. These values will dictate how we live our lives,

The Importance of Values in raising our children

At the end of the day, every parent aims at raising their children to be good human beings that make as valuable members of society. This is because children with good and well-grounded value systems grow up to be individuals who make good and calculated choices in life. Children are bound to grow up and share the same set of values that their parents did

Fourth: The worldly Sciences (Dawoud Al-Antaki)

Who is Dawud al-Antaki? Is he related to Antioch in Turkey? And why was he called the Sheikh of Physicians in his time? Let us get to know one of the most distinguished Muslim scholars in the first three centuries following the message of Muhammad (PBUH) but before we start talking about him, why are we talking about a Muslim scholar? The truth is that there are approximately 1000 linguistic terms that talk about the mind in the Qur’an, and this number specifically is the largest number that the Arabs were able to count in the past, and therefore the interest of the Lord of the Muslims in the mind, the early Muslims understood it very well, and therefore you will not find in the first three centuries, a Muslim scholar except with encyclopedic thinking in the sense (he learns many worldly sciences alongside the religious ones side by side and neither of them attracts him away from the other... Let's began

Th Name

He is Dawud bin Omar al-Antaki

His work

He was the head of the doctors of his time

As usual for scholars of his time, he was an encyclopedist "a scholar of medicine and literature

His education

He memorized the Quran

He read logic, mathematics, and some of the natural sciences

He studied the Greek language and mastered it

His titles

The Seeing - despite being blind

The Chief of the doctors of his time

The Skilled, Unique Wise

The Only Skilled Doctor

Hippocrates of his time

The country of his origin

Turkey

The countries he traveled to

The Arabian Peninsula - Egypt - Damascus

He has a strange story of his recovery from the rickets

Ibn al-Imad, the author of (Shadharat al-Dhahab), narrates the story of his recovery from rickets, which he had been afflicted with

"He was born in Antioch with this condition. He said: I cannot stand up for a condition of wind that controls the nerves. My father was the chief of the village of Habib al-Najjar, and he made a shrine of my master Habib for the visitors, He built rooms for the neighbors, and arranged for them every day food that some servants would bring to him, and I would be carried to the ribat ( place for the visitors) and stay there for a day, and then a man from the best of the Persians called Muhammad Sharif, He came down to Rabat, and when he saw me, he asked about me and was informed. He made me some oil, stretched me out in the heat of the sun, and wrapped me in a bandage from my head to my feet, until I almost died. He repeated that action over and over again without a break, so I got up on my feet. Then he taught me logic, mathematics, and physics, and then he taught me the Greek language.

We have several stops with the story
  • The father of Dawood Al-Antaki, the owner of a charitable deed (a ribat for visitors to the grave of Habib Al-Najjar). For those who do not know who Habib Al-Najjar is, he is the believer of the family of Yasin, known in the Holy Quran. God Almighty returned his charitable deed by providing food to visitors free of charge, and his young son was cured thanks to Muhammad Al-Sharif Al-Ajami.

  • We note: that visitors are present in this ribat daily and none of them moved a finger as a kind of reward to the owner of the ribat (the father of Dawood al-Antaki) except this virtuous man (Muhammad al-Sharif) who was pained by what he saw of the condition of this little child and made him an ointment until the end of the story, and it seems that the man was a man of knowledge, because he taught him mathematics, logic and the Greek language what he taughts him.

  • He did not just fix his body, but he taught him to fix his mind. If you were from the Lord of the Worlds - may God forgive me for the expression - who would you give a greater reward to, Dawoud al-Antaki or his teacher Muhammad al-Sharif?

  • This is how a good Muslim is: He does not see a Muslim or even a non-Muslim in distress except that he tries to relieve him in all the ways he can.

Muhammad Al-Sharif: An encyclopedia of science and thought: He is basically a visitor to a religious place, so when he teaches the young child (logic + mathematics - literature and some of the Greek language) and you are an expert that the ancient Greek language is the origin of the experimental sciences, even some of the major Western universities today have returned the Greek language to circulation as a first-class scientific cultural language.

Why did he leave his country of origin (Antioch)?

As was the custom of students of knowledge at that time, Dawud did not stay in Antioch for long, but left for Damascus to study under the great doctors there. Then he went to Cairo, where his reputation spread through his honest and constructive criticism of some old medical books. He was then assigned the position of head of doctors in Cairo. Then he went to Mecca to perform the Hajj rituals, and settled there, practicing medicine by observation and questioning. He remained like this until he passed away in the year 1008 AH/1600 AD.

Did his loss of sight affect his learning?

It was reported that Dawud al-Antaki was serious, active, and had high ambitions in seeking knowledge; therefore, despite being blind, his disability did not prevent him from studying medicine, nor from excelling in it over his peers, as he presented many medical achievements.

How did he present his knowledge in his time? (His scientific plan)

He presented the works of those who preceded him, and criticized them honestly

Then he kept a plan for himself in the research, he said: It consists of ten laws: He mentioned

The names in different languages

Then the essence

The good and the bad

Then he mentioned the benefits in all the body parts

Then how to deal with it alone or with others

Then the harms

Then what is good for it

The amount

Then what takes its place if it is lost

The time

In which the medicine is cut off and stored so that it does not spoil (or what we call now the expiration date)

The place of the medicine

The effect of the environment on the action of the substance and its effects

Duawd presented hundreds of plant species and dozens of animal and mineral species from which drugs and medicines are taken.

About his morals, his fear and his knowledge

Ibn Al-Imad says: "He had a sense of humor, good nature, generosity, fear of the afterlife, and fear of God. He used to pray at night except for a little, and he devoted himself to his Lord with devotion. When he was asked about something from the wisdom, natural sciences, and mathematics, he dictated what would astonish the mind, such that he would answer a single question in the form of a notebook. Among his works is (Al-Tadhkira), in which he collected medicine and wisdom, then summarized them in a volume, and he explained the poem of the soul by Ibn Sina in a rich and valuable explanation."

He always repeated the words of Al-Mutanabbi before:

And I have not seen in the faults of people a fault *** Like the deficiency of those who are able to complete and not to do so.

We have sufficed with this amount of his noble story.
