التعريف بشيث عليه السلام

ولدَ شيث بن آدم -عليه السلام-

بعد أن قتلَ قابيل أخاه هابيل بخمسين سنة، وقد وردَ عن ابن عباس -رضي الله عنه- أنَّ حواء ولدَت لآدم -عليه السلام- شيث ومعه أخته حزورا، فسمَّاه الله تعالى هبة الله لأنَّه جاء عوضًا عن هابيل، فقد قال جبريل لحواء -عليهما السلام- بعد أن ولدته: "هذا هبة الله بدل هابيل"، وسمِّيَ بالعربية شث وباللغة السريانية شاث، وأمَّا اسم شيث فهو من العبرانية، وقد كان عمر آدم -عليه السلام- عندما رزقه الله تعالى بشيث مئة وثلاثون سنة

تولية شيث على قومه لماذا تولّى شيث الأمر من بعد أبيه آدم -عليهما السلام- دونًا عن أخوته؟

قبل أن يموت آدم -عليه السلام- بأحد عشر يومًا مرضَ، فأوصى إلى شيث من بعده، وكتب وصيته في كتاب وأعطاه إياه وأمره أن يخفيه عن أخيه قابيل لأنَّه كان قد قتل هابيل حسدًا، وكان شيث أفضل ولد آدم وأكثرهم شبهًا بأبيه، وقد أنزل الله تعالى عليه خمسين صحيفة، وبعد أن تولَّى قومَه وسكن الجبل، منعَ قومه من الاختلاط بقوم أخيه قابيل الذين كانوا يسكنون في السهل، لأنَّ الشيطان كان قد أضلَّهم واتَّخذوا المعازف والملاهي، وغرقوا في اللهو

ما صحة أول حادثة زنا في التاريخ؟

كان شيث قد منع قومه من الاختلاط بقوم أخيه قابيل بعد أن غرقوا في الملاهي، وقد كانت نساء القوم جميلات، بعكس الرجال، وأمَّا رجال قوم شيث فقد كانوا يتمتعون بالجمال بعكس نسائهم، وقد تسلل واحد من قوم شيث ورأى المتَع التي يخوض فيها القوم في السهل، فدعا عددًا من الرجال وقيل عددهم مئة، ونزلوا إلى قوم أبناء قابيل، ووافقت أهواؤهم أهواء بعض النساء، ووقعوا في الفاحشة والزنا، وقيل: إنَّها كانت أوَّل حادثة زنا، وهذه القصة مروية في الإسرائيليات وقد روى بنحوها ابن عباس في تفسير قوله تعالى: {وَلا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجاهِلِيَّةِ الْأُولى}، وسردَ تلك القصة.

هل شيث كان نبيًّا؟

لقد كان شيث -عليه السلام- نبيًّا فقد خلف أباه آدم، وذكره رسول الله بأنَّه من الأنبياء الأربعة السريانيين بقوله: "أربعةٌ سُريانيُّونَ: آدمُ وشِيثُ وأخنوخُ وهو إدريسُ"

روى أبو ذر الغفاري رضي الله عنه

عن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال: "أُنزل على شيث خمسون صحيفة" رواه ابن حبان

الآن: من أي نسل جاءت البشرية، الله تعالي يقول

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ * وَنَجّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ * وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرّيّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ }

ومعني ذلك: أن البشرية الموجودة من نسل سيدنا نوح، فهل هذا يتعارض مع

قول ابن جرير الطبري رحمه الله

وإلى شيث أنساب بني آدم كلهم اليوم ، وذلك أن نسل سائر ولد آدم غير نسل شيث انقرضوا وبادوا ، فلم يبق منهم أحد ، فأنساب الناس كلهم اليوم إلى شيث عليه السلام"

جاء في كتب السير والتراجم أنّ نسب سيدنا نوح -عليه السلام- هو

"نوح -عليه السلام- بن لامك بن متوشلخ بن أخنوخ- وهو إدريس عليه السلام- بن يارد بن مهلائيل بن قينان بن أنوش بن شيث بن آدم"

وقد رجّح غير واحد من أهل العلم - كابن جرير وابن كثير

أن إدريس عليه السلام- هو جدّ نوح -عليه السلام- الوارد في عمود نسبه، وهو المقصود بقوله تعالى-: (أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ آدَمَ). [مريم: 58]

إذن

لا تعارض كون البشرية هم أحفاد شيث عليه السلام (الذين انقرضوا ) أم هم من احفاد نوح عليه السلامن الذي هو بدوره حفيد لإدريس عليه السلام وحفيد للجد الأكبر شيث عليه السلام وإن زادت بينهم الأعوام، بالطبع الله أعلي واعلم

The Introduction to Seth, peace be upon him

Seth, son of Adam, peace be upon him, was born

Fifty years after Cain killed his brother Abel. It was reported from Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, that Eve gave birth to Seth for Adam, peace be upon him, along with his sister Hazura. God Almighty named him "Hibat Allah" (the gift of God) because he replaced Abel. Gabriel said to Eve, peace be upon them, after she gave birth to him: "This is the gift of God in place of Abel." He was called Sheth in Arabic and Shath in Syriac. The name Seth is of Hebrew origin. Adam, peace be upon him, was one hundred and thirty years old when God Almighty blessed him with Seth.

Seth's Assignment to His People: Why did Seth assume leadership after his father Adam (peace be upon them both) and not his brothers?

Eleven days before Adam (peace be upon him) died, he fell ill and bequeathed his successor to Seth. He wrote his will in a book and gave it to him, ordering him to conceal it from his brother Cain, who had killed Abel out of envy. Seth was the best of Adam's sons and the one most resembling his father. God Almighty revealed fifty pages to him. After he took over his people and settled in the mountain, he prevented his people from mingling with the people of his brother Cain, who lived in the plain. Satan had led them astray, and they had taken up musical instruments and entertainment, immersing themselves in frivolity.

What is the authenticity of the first incident of adultery in history?

Seth had forbidden his people from mingling with the people of his brother Cain after they had indulged in entertainment. The women of the people were beautiful, unlike the men. However, the men of Seth's people were beautiful, unlike their women. One of Seth's people sneaked in and saw the pleasures the people were enjoying on the plain. He invited a number of men, some said to be a hundred, and they descended upon the people of Cain's descendants. Their desires matched the desires of some of the women, and they committed fornication. It is said that this was the first incident of fornication. This story is narrated in the Isra'iliyyat (Islamic traditions). Ibn Abbas related a similar story in his interpretation of the verse: {And do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance}, and he recounted this story.

Was Seth a prophet?

Seth, peace be upon him, was a prophet, succeeding his father Adam. The Messenger of God mentioned him as one of the four Syriac prophets, saying: "Four are Syriac: Adam, Seth, and Enoch, who is Idris."

Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may God be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fifty pages were revealed to Seth." Narrated by Ibn Hibban.

Now: From which lineage did humanity come? God Almighty says:

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ * وَنَجّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ * وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرّيّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ }

And Noah did call upon Us, and indeed, We are the best respondent. And We saved him and his family from the great distress. And We made his descendants the survivors.

This means that existing humanity is from the lineage of our master Noah. Does this contradict the

Ibn Jarir al-Tabari (may God have mercy on him) said

“And to Seth belong the lineages of all the children of Adam today. This is because the descendants of all the children of Adam other than Seth became extinct and perished, leaving none of them. Therefore, the lineages of all people today go back to Seth, peace be upon him.”

It is stated in the books of biographies and biography that the lineage of our master Noah, peace be upon him, is:

“Noah, peace be upon him, son of Lamech, son of Methuselah, son of Enoch—who is Idris, peace be upon him—son of Jared, son of Mahalalel, son of Cainan, son of Enosh, son of Seth, son of Adam.”

More than one scholar—such as Ibn Jarir and Ibn Kathir—have favored the view that Idris, peace be upon him, is the grandfather of Noah, peace be upon him, mentioned in his genealogy, and he is the one meant by the Almighty’s words: “Those are the ones upon whom God has bestowed favor among the prophets, from the descendants of Adam.” [Maryam: 58]

Therefore,

There is no contradiction between humanity being descendants of Seth (peace be upon him) (who became extinct) or being descendants of Noah (peace be upon him), who in turn was a grandson of Idris (peace be upon him) and a grandson of the great-grandfather Seth (peace be upon him), even if there were more years between them. Of course, God knows best.
