Allah says
And those of you who die and leave behind wives shall wait for themselves for four months and ten days, ۖ when they have reached their term, there is no blame on you for what they do to themselves in a reasonable manner, And God is Expert of what you do (234)
We benefit from the following verse:
1 - The waiting period was prescribed for the innocence of the womb. They have found in recent studies that the husband has an imprint in his wife’s womb, If another imprint enters her uterus before the uterus is healed of this imprint, her hormones will be disturbed and her health will be disturbed.
For more see:
2 - After this period, there is no sin for them to think about marrying another man, and it is permissible for them to leave this matter and not force them not to marry again.
3 - And you should know, O father, brother, or whoever was this woman’s guardian, that you urged her not to marry again, and that God - the Almighty - is aware of what you know, why you did this, Is it to ensure that her inheritance remains in your pocket, or do you want to prevent her from marrying for fear of a negative societal outlook, Like some Arab tribes, or her ex-husband had a position or something else, and God is Most High and All-Knowing.
