The nicknames of the Companions

Every name is said, from his name share.. whether this thing is human, inanimate, or place

The Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - used to nickname the Companions with good names, if there was a name he did not like or had a name, the meaning was not good, he changed it to a good name and examples of this large number, let's start from the bad nicknames that many people call their children today, “Oh, clever, smart, If you go back to the words of the Arabs and the meaning of this word in the Arabic dictionaries, you will find that the good man is the thief who cuts the road, When al-Husayn, may God be pleased with him, and his companions were asked in Karbala about its name, it was said to him: Karbala. He said, Glory be to God: Anguish and calamity, and that was indeed (it had a share of its name) there are nicknames that have a kind of defect, such as lameness, crossed eye, Aamash: weak eye with tears all the time, and the like, except in one case stated by the scholars: If a man is not known and distinguished except by this title, It is permissible to define it, but before we take a part of the names that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - mentioned in other places, we must look at the study below, which talks about the consequences of calling people unpopular names as a form of bullying that needs to stop, confidence in their perception of themselves, a sense of self-respect without arrogance, a reason to establish the value that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, is feeling with well-being among his peers, he feels his identity and strengthens it. Open the door to praise others, as it happened with him, there is no room for violence. Closing the door on self-criticism does not affect the results of mood changes such as mood in eating and sleeping, It has a positive effect on the health of the mind and body and all this is the opposite of the study.

Have we seen the personality of the Messenger of God - PBUH - how he deals with his companions, and where did the Messenger of God - PBUH - learn the psychology of appreciation and respect? the self is for the Muslim, far from everything that harms him psychologically, but also physically, The Almighty said: ((And he does not utter from his own desires. It is nothing but a revelation that is revealed.))

The position of the Messenger of God changed the name from Abu al-Hakam to Abu Shuraih, the hadith of Hani bin Yazid, may God be pleased with him; that when he came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, with his people; He heard them refer to him as Abu al-Hakam, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, called him and said: God is the judge, and to Him belongs the judgment, so why were you called Abu al-Hakam? The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: What is this best? He, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to him: What is your son? He said: I have Shuraih, Muslim and Abdullah. He said: Who is the greatest? I said: Shureh. He said: You are Abu Shureh. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbade ugly names. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbade us to name our slaves with four names.

And in a narration

Do not call your boy a yasaran, nor rbahn, a faliha for you say: Is it wrong? He will not be, then he will say: No, they are only four, so do not add to me more, And in the narrator of Jabir, he said: “The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, wanted to be forbidden to be called yaly, barka, aflah, yasar, nafa and the like, then I saw him keep quiet after her and did not say anything, changing the name of Yathrib to Taybeh or Tabah, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, al-Hakam ibn Abi al-Aas from Medina to Taif, while the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace… “Do not call him Aziz, but name him Abd al-Rahman, The most beloved names to God are: Abdullah and Abd al-Rahman.” The problem is that this statement is not correct.

Invoking names is considered one of the most harmful and painful types of bullying,

It leaves victims with negative messages about who has been burned into their memories. It's also harmful because name-calling tries to identify people, For example, calling someone "fat," "retarded," "nerd," or some other offensive name takes away from a target's self-esteem, sense of self-worth, and self-concept.

The Almighty says:

 The Almighty says

(And do not call each other by bad nicknames Evil is the immoral name, after faith, and whoever does not repent, those are the unjust)

Surat Al-Hujurat It was mentioned in the hadith on the authority of Qais bin Abi Gharza, may God be pleased with him, who said: “In the time of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, we called the brokers, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by and called us by a name that was better than him. He said: O people of merchants...the hadith.

The Consequences of the calling

Everyone has heard the saying, "Stick and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." To make matters worse, Insults happen a lot, In fact, 75 percent of elementary school students say they give them names on a regular basis at school, It's bad in middle and high school with nearly 65 percent indicating from students that swearing is a serious problem in their school, when children are offended because of certain beliefs or values, such insults may cause them to bow to peer pressure and compromise their beliefs in order to escape the bullying, For example, a teenage girl named "Judy-Judy" might try to shake this image by doing things that go against her belief system because she's trying to prove that she's not always good, It makes it difficult for victims to trust their own perceptions of themselves. No matter what names the victim is called The main and recurring message is, "You're not good enough, and you are not up to par.

The Conclusion

Did you remember with me how the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - calls out to his companions?

Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq

(Al-Siddiq: a lot of honest from others their talk, and his level in hereafter: one of whose rank is with the prophets and martyrs, and the best of those are companions)

Omar Ibn Al-Khattab was: Al-Faruq

( who differentiates between right and wrong)

Abo Abida ibn el Garah

( the trust of the nation)

Abdullah bin Abbas was (Hebr of the Ummah)

 As he of its scholars

And it was, may God be pleased with them all: Surely you know many good qualities that the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - described to his companions, It has never been proven that he gave one of his companions a bad name. If you want the Messenger to be your role model, at least, do not call any of your friends or acquaintances with a name that offends him psychologically or physically.
