Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The night prayer was initially obligatory for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions for a whole year until Allah abrogated this at the end of the surah, meaning Surah Al-Muzzammil.
Allah the Almighty said
{O you who is wrapped up in garments, arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - half of it, or subtract from it a little, or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. Indeed, We will cast upon you a weighty word. Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence and more suitable for speech. Indeed, for you during the day is prolonged occupation.} [Al-Muzzammil: 1-7].
Allah the Almighty said
{Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them.} [As-Sajdah: 16].
Allah the Almighty said
{For those who fear Allah, there are gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally.}... until He said: {The patient, the truthful, the obedient, the spenders, and those who seek forgiveness in the hours before dawn.} [Al Imran: 15, 17]. Magic is the last part of the night.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace
used to gently encourage his companions to perform the night prayer. It was reported that he said: “Abdullah is a good man if he only prayed at night prayer.
Gabriel came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said:
“O Muhammad, live as long as you wish, for you will die. Love whomever you wish, for you will be separated from them. Do whatever you wish, for you will be rewarded for it. Know that the honor of the believer is in standing at night, and his pride is in his independence from people.” (Hasan Hadith)
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The closest a servant is to his Lord is in the last part of the night. If you can be among those who remember God at that time, then be.” (Narrated by Al-Nasa’i and Al-Tirmidhi, who said: Hasan Sahih).
In the hadith qudsi narrated by Bukhari and Muslim
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said
“Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and says: ‘Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will seek My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?
The best time for it
On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Our Lord, blessed and exalted be He, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and says: ‘Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will seek My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?’
Its importance
1 - Joining the ranks of the righteous
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “You should perform the night prayer, for it was the practice of the righteous before you. The night prayer is a means of drawing closer to Allah, a deterrent from sin, an expiation for bad deeds, and a repellent of disease from the body.”
2 - The sweetness of supplication
The servant’s seclusion with his Lord and his supplication are among the most delicious things that the one who performs the night prayer feels. Ibn al-Munkadir used to say: There are only three pleasures left in this world: performing the night prayer, meeting the brothers, and praying in congregation.

The First Study
The book "Tested Home Recipes and Natural Healing Secrets"
It is a book in English by a group of American authors, 1993 edition. They found that getting out of bed at night, moving around a little inside the house, doing some light exercises, massaging the limbs with water, and breathing deeply have many health benefits. Whoever contemplates these tips will find that they are exactly like the movements of ablution and prayer during the night prayer. The Prophet preceded all these studies in the miraculous reference to the night prayer, saying: "You should perform the night prayer, ....., and it expels disease from the body"... Narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, and by Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Bayhaqi, and Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak on the authority of Bilal and Ibn Asakir on the authority of Abu Al-Darda, and Al-Albani included it in Sahih Al-Jami' under number 4079
The second study
"Performing night prayers reduces the secretion of the hormone cortisol (the body's natural cortisol), especially several hours before waking up, which coincides temporally with the time of dawn (the last third of the night), which protects against
a sudden increase in blood sugar levels, which poses a risk to diabetics
and also reduces a sudden rise in blood pressure
and protects against stroke
and heart attacks in patients at risk of it
Reduces the risk of blood clots in the retinal vein of the eye, which occurs as a result of slow blood flow during sleep
and increased blood viscosity due to lack of fluid intake, or increased loss of fluids, or due to excessive obesity and difficulty breathing, which hinders the venous blood from returning from the head
Improvement and flexibility in patients with various arthritis
Whether rheumatic or otherwise as a result of light movement and water massage during ablution
A successful treatment for "time stress disease"
As performing night prayers rids the body of what is called triglycerides (a type of fat) that accumulates in the blood, especially after dinner Contains a high percentage of fats, which increases the risk of coronary heart disease by 32% in these patients compared to others. Night prayer reduces the risk of death from all causes, especially those resulting from heart attack, stroke, and some types of cancer as well.
Reduces the risk of sudden death.
Due to irregular heartbeats due to breathing fresh air free of daytime pollutants, most notably car exhaust and allergens.
Night prayer activates memory and stimulates various mental functions of the brain.
Because it includes reading and contemplating the Qur’an, reciting supplications, and recalling morning and evening remembrances, it protects against Alzheimer’s disease, senile dementia, and depression.
Night prayer reduces the severity of occurrence and alleviates tinnitus for unknown reasons.
